Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010. The
law includes comprehensive changes to the healthcare system that will affect every
American. The reforms will roll out over four years and beyond, with most changes
taking place by 2014. Many important changes begin to take place this year. Small
Business Health Care Tax Credit Effective January 1, 2010
Up to
four million small businesses may be eligible for a tax credit to help them provide
health insurance benefits to their employees. The first phase of this important
tax break provides a credit of up to 35% of the employer's contribution to employees'
health premiums. Small non-profit organizations may receive up to a 25% credit.
Many small business can use the tax credit beginning this year.
